SUDDENLY, EVerything changes.

Or: How to describe a glass?

Yes, the price is steep, no question.

And this question is also allowed: Can glasses really be worth that much?

Our answer is surprisingly clear:
Yes.

+

This is where the challenges begin, because trying to describe a normal wine glass is already quite demanding:

All wine glasses have a bowl, stem, and foot and are 100% made of glass and therefore largely indistinguishable – differences are usually only in the finest nuances.

So how do you describe a wine glass that fits within these parameters but is still fundamentally different from all others?

It would be easy to say that Zalto glasses are lightweight – especially relative to their impressive size.

But how does it feel, this delicate fiber, this inverted glass cathedral?
How do you describe the fact that, despite its thin-walled elegance, it feels so incredibly springy, robust, and generous?
How it turns and rotates, and how carefully you handle it almost without thinking?

How can one describe the amazement when, after a few weeks of use, you notice that the bowl, except for fine contour lines and light reflections, is clear without distortion and almost doesn’t reflect at all?
And why didn’t you notice this much earlier?

Or the thoughtful moment on a warm afternoon on the shady balcony:
Contrary to expectations, the back of your fingernail on the rim of the glass does not produce a bell-clear tone, but an intriguingly brittle clack.
On closer inspection, however, the glass reveals its most subtle nuance yet:
The golden, slowly swinging tone of the bowl, only audible close to the ear, which gradually fades in waves and lingers as goosebumps on your neck.
The whole glass visibly vibrates – a nerve-wracking sight given the thin walls and the price.

And it keeps on swinging and swinging and swinging:

The glass itself is so plain and sober.
The lines connect the bowl with the stem and foot as unadorned as they are straightforward.
But also – and this again makes the glass so special – without compromise: lines and proportions are perfectly balanced, precise, and sharp.

And so you gradually get to know it, the most special of all glasses.
You learn to see the nuances and details you couldn’t see before.
And you don’t want to be without it anymore.

But you don’t necessarily want a 12-piece set. And not every day either.

But 2 glasses. For yourself and your loved one.
To toast to yourself, your life together, and your child from time to time.

That’s the kind of glass it is.

"CHOOSE THE GOOD GLASSES"

Zalto glasses are anything but everyday items.

We actually only use these glasses when we have a special moment to celebrate, just like our grandmother used to bring out the "good" porcelain on special occasions.

Our favorite is the Universal glass, because it is the most radical and fully deserves its name:

Whether good whiskey, cream, cheerful colorful and sparkling drinks, aperitif on ice in summer, or just classic for the special wine with dinner – the glass is every time a subtle sensory spectacle and makes both moment and drink additionally special.

***

One thing first: Zalto glasses MUST be carefully polished after rinsing – a Zalto glass with water spots is simply unacceptable.

If you engage in this process, this previously perhaps annoying task becomes a truly enriching ritual, because polishing the glasses is simply and touchingly quite joyful:
Perhaps because you get to know another aspect of glass through polishing, for which we don’t yet have words. Perhaps polishing simply revives the previous moment. Or maybe we are just very fond of beautiful rituals.

Be that as it may: We have discovered that careful care after drinking is a consistently pleasant and important part of the product.

And finally the official Zalto video where you can see the production:
