WE REFURBISH YOUR BRETT.
Wood wears out - that's completely normal and that's what gives wood its special charm. Cutting boards in particular don't have a easy life due to daily contact with sharp blades.
However, most of the marks are of a superficial nature and can be repaired - even several times in a row.
The FRANKFURTER BRETT “Workshop Service”:
We professionally recondition excessively used or outdated boards, sand the surfaces, fill in small holes and cracks and send the good piece back free of charge, well oiled and almost like new - including a new bottle of BRETT CARE.
This is usually worthwhile for boards that are more than 2.5 years old or have been subjected to particular wear and tear.
(Freshly sanded boards are an excellent gift to give away - if you ever want to treat yourself to a larger board.)

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
STANDARD RECONDITIONING
We sand the entire surface down approx. 1 mm.
This is enough to completely remove almost all regular cutting marks.
Particularly deep cuts (e.g. cleaver or fluted bread knife) may not be able to be completely removed.
SMALL DEFECTS & CRACKS
Small cracks and imperfections are filled, filled and sanded. The color of the filling areas may differ slightly from the wood.
If the boards are broken or there is serious damage (severe mold, etc.), please contact us beforehand to discuss repair prospects.
ENGRAVINGS
Engravings are always sanded to achieve an even wood appearance.
As a rule, the engravings survive the first workshop service perfectly.
If repeated sanding occurs, the engraving may have to be re-applied. In this case, please contact us in advance.
DISCOLORATION
Discoloration of the wood can (depending on the cause, e.g. burn marks from a very hot pan) go deeper than the 1mm sanding depth.
We check each board individually and always try to find an ideal solution.
However, for the reasons mentioned above, we cannot guarantee that all traces can be completely removed.
If in doubt, please always assume that the board that comes back to you after sanding has been treated ideally as far as possible - we are usually happy to go a few extra steps, to improve the result.
