WE REFURBISH YOUR BOARD.
Wood wears down - that's completely normal and also part of the special charm of wood.
Especially cutting boards don’t have an easy life due to daily contact with sharp blades.
Most marks, however, are only superficial and can be repaired – even multiple times in a row.
We professionally refurbish aged boards, sand the surfaces, fill small holes and cracks, and send the good piece back well oiled and almost like new – including a new bottle of board care oil.
This is usually worthwhile for boards older than 2.5 years or those that are heavily used.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
STANDARD PROCESSING
We sand down the entire surface by about 1 mm.
This is sufficient to completely remove almost all regular cut marks.
Especially deep cuts (e.g., cleaver or serrated bread knife) may not be completely removable in some cases.
SMALL DEFECTS & CRACKS
Small cracks and chips are filled, patched, and sanded down. The filled areas may differ slightly in color from the wood.
Please contact us beforehand for broken boards or severe damage (heavy mold infestation, etc.) to discuss repair options.
ENGRAVINGS
Engravings are generally sanded down to achieve a smooth wood surface.
As a rule, the engravings withstand the first Workshop-Service perfectly.
With repeated sanding, the engraving may need to be reapplied. Please contact us in advance in this case as well.
DISCOLORATIONS
Discolorations of the wood can (depending on the cause, e.g., burn marks from a very hot pan) penetrate deeper than the 1mm sanding depth.
We inspect each board individually and always try to find an ideal solution. However, for the reasons mentioned above, we cannot guarantee that all marks can be completely removed.
Please always assume, in case of doubt, that the board you receive back after sanding has been treated as ideally as possible within the given constraints – we usually go the extra mile to improve the result.
