NEW BEGINNING FOR EASTER

THE FRANKFURTER BRETT IS BACK.

The Frankfurter Brett was missing for almost a whole year.
Now it’s back.

I am Johannes Schreiter – inventor of the Frankfurter Brett as well as owner of the brand and patent.

In November 2025, I took over the insolvency assets of the predecessor company and began to bring everything back together.

After initially reopening the shop almost without comment, the biggest problems of the early days are now solved and I want to give an insight into what led to the situation, where we stand today – and how things will proceed from here.

For everyone who isn’t really that interested but is looking for a good board at a good price:
We have put together a nice Easter offer.

 🌞THE SHOP IS OPEN.🌞

THE EASTER OFFER

The boards that are now available are the last series of the first generation.

The signature accessories remain available.
Containers and Easy Pads sometimes need to be newly produced first.
This currently leads to longer delivery times for some items.

For Easter, there is a 25% discount on the entire shopping cart for one week. From 04/03 - 04/12/2026.
(After that, a 20% discount applies to the boards – no longer on newly purchased accessories.)

Container sets

For those who don’t want to wait, there is an immediately available starter set.
You can get started right away – and expand later if needed.

A) Container set B°2 in green available immediately.
B) Large Containers sets in plastic and stainless steel can be pre-ordered, with corresponding delivery times.

Easy Pads

Easy Pad °3 is available for pre-order, with longer delivery times for raw materials.
Easy Pads 1 and 2 are available.

Additional accessories

The range will be gradually expanded.
Items like the sparkling wine and the pit cloths will be available again.

The indicated delivery dates are for guidance only.
Delays in production can affect the shipping date.
For orders with multiple items, the latest date determines the shipping.

1 - PAST

What began in 2012 with the idea of a cutting board with retractable handles developed over the years into a very successful project.
At times, over 40 people worked on this, with production in Germany and modern manufacturing in Estonia.

However, with growth came challenges and problems that we could no longer really solve.
Different ideas about how the company should develop led to increasing internal tensions.
At the same time, structures arose that were not sustainable in this form in the long term.

In this situation, I made the decision to stop sales.

That was not an easy step, but in my view necessary to avoid further damage and create a clean foundation for a fresh start.
The result was the insolvency of the then operating company in mid-2025 – a stressful process with an uncertain outcome.

RESPONSIBILITY

Because of my decisions, there are orders that could no longer be delivered due to the insolvency.
This means: People placed their trust in the brand and the product and were initially disappointed.
It must not be like this.

I will take responsibility for this.

At the same time, it is clear:
To ensure this responsibility can actually be fulfilled, the fresh start must first be built on a stable economic basis.

My current focus is therefore on setting up the company cleanly and creating a sustainable foundation for the future.

Once this foundation is in place, I will systematically address the open cases and develop solutions.

Orders will either be fulfilled from stock of the old generation or there will be a voucher for the new generation.

Old generation? Yes.
Because I have made another, profound decision:

The Frankfurter Brett is being completely redesigned.
(More on this under "3 - Looking Ahead".)

2 – PRESENT

Fortunately, the negotiations with the insolvency administrator have found a resolution that makes a fresh start possible.

Since November 2025, I have been working on reorganizing and stabilizing the Frankfurter Brett.

This is not a fresh start on a greenfield site.
But first a process of bringing things back together that had fallen apart.

Consolidate inventories from different warehouses, talk to people, find solutions.
Rethink structures and set them up as flexibly as possible.
Recognize the opportunities of the situation, implement long-held plans, and look forward to the future.

Today, most things are back under control.

The stock is consolidated in our warehouse in Offenbach.
Shipping is back in-house – lean, direct, without detours.
The team is small but focused.

Almost a bit like right at the beginning.
Only with significantly more experience.

Conclusion Present

The structure is in place, the warehouse is full to the ceiling, and the shop is finally tidy and well maintained again.
Since last week, the first new productions of goods have been commissioned.

Just in time for Easter, the Frankfurter Brett is alive again.
Resurrection? Well – maybe a little. 🙂
In any case, it’s a new beginning. And it will be good.

3 – LOOKING AHEAD

The Frankfurter Brett is not simply coming back.
It is being rebuilt and taken to a new level.

For about two years now, I have been working on the next generation – in CAD, with prototypes, in detail.

In recent years, over 300,000 Frankfurter Bretter have passed through our hands.
We received a lot of feedback from our customers.
A lot of insight into real usage situations.
This created a very clear picture of what is important and what works – and what doesn’t.

At the same time, I delved deeper into modern manufacturing.
Wood, gluing, tensions in the material, surfaces, details in use.

At some point, you realize:
There aren’t many people who engage so deeply with cutting boards.

When I started, cutting boards were basically simple pieces of wood.
Often offcuts from furniture production that found a second use as cutting boards.

The Frankfurter Brett was the first product that significantly rethought the cutting board.

Since then, the core questions that have surprisingly rarely been asked have occupied me:

-> What actually happens during cooking?
-> Why has no one ever organized order on the cutting board before?

-> Wouldn't it be great to build cutting boards so high-quality that they accompany us humans for a lifetime?

Similar to how Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky first analyzed the work process in the Frankfurter Küche and developed a functional solution from it – only even deeper in detail.

And this is exactly where I am starting again now.
I start with the product that was a real innovation back then – and has proven itself in practice, in the lives of many people.
And I know where it can still get better.

It feels like I just have to connect the right points now to transfer everything I've learned and understood over the past years into a new product.

A prototype is in front of me on the table – and I can say:
That will be another big step.

How much longer until you can buy the new board?
At least a year.
First, I have to build a new team, in Germany and Estonia.
Preparing series production, buying materials, setting up the shop, and finally presenting the new product.

It's not about being fast.
But it's about doing it right this time.
It takes time and requires a lot of attention.

So I ask for patience and some understanding if the offer and communication are initially not back to the previous level.
I still remember well how easily daily business dominates the daily routine – while the really important things get left behind.

SUMMARY

The restart is underway.

If you've been thinking about getting a Frankfurter Brett for a while,
this is a good time.

And if you say you'd rather wait for the next generation,
that is just as understandable.

Then it's worth sticking with it.
It's just getting started.

JOHANNES 🚀
