Half-linen pit cloth
Originally, the pit cloth was used by miners to wipe off dust and sweat. It also protected their meals, as no coal dust penetrated through the high density of the weave.
Today, the kitchen towel is an all-rounder in the kitchen. More of an all-purpose weapon than a simple tea towel. We use it as a pot holder, as a drying cloth, as a salad spinner, as a doorstop, as a carrying aid for groceries or as a breathable cover for containers and pots.
Reason enough for a new edition of our blue and red cotton classic: a half-linen cloth with neon accent lines and motto weave. In a non-slip and durable quality. Coarse and robust, the linen content makes it finely textured, soft and pleasant to the touch. Thanks to the high thread density, it absorbs moisture very well after the first washes and has a remarkable lifespan.
The characteristic checkered pattern of the pit cloths looks very accurate and orderly on the one hand, and on the other hand the strict grid efficiently covers even heavy sauce stains, and the cloth looks significantly cleaner than comparable single-colored cloths even after an intensive shift in the commercial kitchen.
As a routine, we still recommend washing the towels once a week at 40-60°. Frequent washing also loosens the textile threads, which are initially tightly twisted, and absorbs even more water.
Dimensions: 107 × 55 cm, after the first wash 100 × 50 cm (the pit cloth shrinks by approx. 10% after the first wash).
All pit cloths are 100% made in Germany. A matter of honor.
