After a long search in sunny Calabria, we finally found a reliable supplier for olive wood who can produce headwood boards in our dimensions and – much harder to find – in our quantities and quality requirements.
How beautiful this wood is, however, is hardly expressible in words:
The surface is polished mirror-smooth, the lively grain is pleasantly ordered through precise gluing and of intense, breathtaking wildness.
After 5 years in the cutting board business, nothing should really blow us away anymore, but this Olive… wow.
You can tell how special these boards are just by the weight: while a regular Basic weighs about 3kg, a Basic in Olive weighs a hefty 4.5kg.
And you can also feel this material density: it is always 2 degrees cooler than you would expect. This difference creates a subtle little surprise with every skin contact. Amazing.
Olive headwood of this quality and thickness is truly a rarity – the wood is knotty and the processing is elaborate and involves a high cutting loss. We hope this source will establish itself in the long term.
